OBJECTIVES/GOALS: Prostate cancer treatment is associated with significant genitourinary side effects. There is a critical need for treatment with decreased morbidity. We report the development of a novel treatment paradigm combining irreversible electroporation and lower dose radiation to provide prostate cancer patients with a less morbid treatment. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: Intermediate risk prostate cancer patients will undergo focal irreversible electroporation followed by low dose, whole gland radiation therapy. The primary endpoint is freedom from clinically significant cancer on biopsy at 12-month follow up. Secondary endpoints include safety profile, oncologic efficacy, effectiveness of RT and need for secondary treatment. This trial (NCT05345444) and currently actively recruiting patients after initial feasibility trial. Sample size is calculated to detect an increase in the proportion of patients who are cancer free at 1-year, from 0.80 to 0.95. An exact binomial test with a 10% one-sided significance level will have 94.3% power to detect the difference between the null and alternative hypothesis when the sample size is 42. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: This is a clinical trial in progress. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE: Combined irreversible electroporation (IRE) and a lower dose radiotherapy (RTIRE) may provide prostate cancer patients a treatment with minimal side effects.
Glacier fluctuation chronology since the latest Pleistocene at Mount Rainier, Washington, USA

Large stratovolcanoes in the Cascade Range have high equilibrium-line altitudes that support glaciers whose Holocene and latest Pleistocene advances are amenable to dating. Glacier advances produced datable stratigraphic sequences in lateral moraines, which complement dating of end moraines. New mapping of glacial deposits on Mount Rainier using LIDAR and field observations supports a single latest Pleistocene or early Holocene advance. Rainier R tephra overlies deposits from this advance and could be as old as >11.6 ka; the advance could be of Younger Dryas age. Radiocarbon ages on wood interbedded between tills in the lateral moraines of Nisqually, Carbon, and Emmons glaciers and the South Tahoma glacier forefield suggest glacier advances between 200 and 550 CE, correlative with the First Millennium Advance in western Canada, and during the Little Ice Age (LIA) beginning as early as 1300 CE.
These results resolve previous contradictory interpretations of Mount Rainier's glacial history and indicate that the original proposal of a single pre-Neoglacial cirque advance is correct, in contrast to a later interpretation of two advances of pre- and post-Younger Dryas age, respectively. Meanwhile, the occurrence of the pre-LIA Burroughs Mountain Advance, interpreted in previous work as occurring 3–2.5 ka, is questionable based on inherently ambiguous interpretations of tephra distribution.
Enhancing GP care of mental health disorders post-COVID-19: a scoping review of interventions and outcomes

Objectives:
Considerable literature has examined the COVID-19 pandemic’s negative mental health sequelae. It is recognised that most people experiencing mental health problems present to primary care and the development of interventions to support GPs in the care of patients with mental health problems is a priority. This review examines interventions to enhance GP care of mental health disorders, with a view to reviewing how mental health needs might be addressed in the post-COVID-19 era.
Methods:Five electronic databases (PubMed, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar and WHO ‘Global Research on COVID-19’) were searched from May – July 2021 for papers published in English following Arksey and O’Malley’s six-stage scoping review process.
Results:The initial search identified 148 articles and a total of 29 were included in the review. These studies adopted a range of methodologies, most commonly randomised control trials, qualitative interviews and surveys. Results from included studies were divided into themes: Interventions to improve identification of mental health disorders, Interventions to support GPs, Therapeutic interventions, Telemedicine Interventions and Barriers and Facilitators to Intervention Implementation. Outcome measures reported included the Seven-item Generalised Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), the Nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and the ‘The Patient Global Impression of Change Scale’.
Conclusion:With increasing recognition of the mental health sequelae of COVID-19, there is a lack of large scale trials researching the acceptability or effectiveness of general practice interventions. Furthermore there is a lack of research regarding possible biological interventions (psychiatric medications) for mental health problems arising from the pandemic.
Late Holocene fluctuations of Stoppani Glacier, southernmost Patagonia

Some lateral moraines contain a rich record of Holocene glacial expansion. Previous workers have used such evidence to document glacial fluctuations in western Canada, Alaska, and the U.S. Pacific Northwest, but similar studies in Patagonia are uncommon. Here we report on the late Holocene behavior of Stoppani Glacier, a 75 km2 glacier sourced in the Cordillera Darwin, southernmost Patagonia. Based on radiocarbon-dated wood and organic material contained in the glacier's northeast lateral moraine, we infer that Stoppani Glacier advanced shortly before 3.8–3.6, at 3.2–2.8, 2.3–2.1, and 0.3–0.2, and possibly sometime before 1.4–1.3 and 0.8–0.7 cal ka BP. These advances culminated at 0.3–0.2 cal ka BP, when the glacier constructed a prominent end moraine, marking its greatest extent of the past 4000 years. Although the timing of several of the advances overlap with the age range of glacial expansion recognized elsewhere in Patagonia, some do not. Asynchronous behavior observed in the glacial record may arise from the type of evidence (e.g., lateral stratigraphy vs. end moraine) used to document glacial fluctuations or variations in climate or glacial response times. A significant difference between the Stoppani record and some other Patagonian records is that the former indicates general expansion of ice over the last 4000 years, whereas the latter indicate a net decrease in extent over that period.

Applying high-resolution electron backscatter diffraction (HR-EBSD) to materials without regions that are amenable to the acquisition of backgrounds for static flat fielding (background subtraction) can cause analysis problems. To address this difficulty, the efficacy of electron beam induced deposition (EBID) of material as a source for an amorphous background signal is assessed and found to be practical. Using EBID material for EBSD backgrounds allows single crystal and large-grained samples to be analyzed using HR-EBSD for strain and small angle rotation measurement.

The Little Ice Age was the most extensive Neoglacial glacier advance in the Canadian Rockies. Evidence of earlier, less-extensive Neoglacial glacier advances is based on wood recovered from several glacier forefields. Wood flushed out of Athabasca Glacier (7550-8230 yr B.P., three dates) and Dome Glacier (6120-6380 yr B.P., two dates) indicates that forests occurred upvalley of present glacier termini during the Hypsithermal. Detrital logs from Peyto (14 dates), Saskatchewan (3 dates), Robson (3 dates), and Yoho (1 date) Glaciers, plus in situ slumps at Peyto and Robson Glaciers, have yielded 14 C dates between 2490 and 3300 yr B.P. (12 dates between 2800 and 2990). This wood is derived from sources at or upvalley from present glacier termini and represents forests overridden by glaciers between ca. 3100 and 2500 yr B.P. (Treeline was higher than present immediately prior to this advance.) This advance, which did not extend beyond the Little Ice Age maximum position, is designated the Peyto Advance and correlated with the Tiedemann Advance in western British Columbia. Earliest Little Ice Age advances at Peyto and Robson Glaciers are dated ca. 800-600 yr B.P. at positions ca. 500 m upvalley from Little Ice Age limits.

What do Parents Worry About? Examination of the Construct of Parent Worry and the Relation to Parent and Child Anxiety

Background: Previous research has indicated that parent cognition, including anxious beliefs and expectations, are associated with both parent and child anxiety symptoms and may be transferred from parent to child. However, the content and frequency of parent worry in relation to their children has yet to be examined as a potential form of anxious parent cognition, and little is known about normative parent worry. Aims: The purpose of the current study is to extend the research on parent cognition and child anxiety by focusing on parent worry (i.e. parent worry in relation to their children) as a potential predictor of child anxiety. Method: A comprehensive self-report measure of parent worry was developed and administered to a community-based sample of parents. Results: An exploratory factor analysis yielded a single factor solution. Parent worry was found to be a more robust predictor of child anxiety than parent anxiety symptoms, and parent worry mediated the association between parent anxiety symptoms and child anxiety. Most common worries reported by parents fell within the domains of life success and physical well-being. Conclusion: Overall, this study adds to the literature on parent cognitive biases and has the potential to inform parent-based interventions for the treatment of child anxiety. Further, this study provides initial data on normative parent worry.

Summary
MATLAB is exceptionally strong in linear algebra, numerical methods, and graphical interpretation of data. It is easily programmed and relatively easy to learn to use. Hence, it has proven invaluable to engineers and scientists who rely on the scientific techniques and methods at which MATLAB excels. Very often the individuals and groups that so employ MATLAB are primarily interested in the numbers and graphs that emerge from MATLAB commands, processes and programs. Therefore, it is enough for them to work in a MATLAB Command Window, from which they can easily print or export their desired output.
However, other practitioners of mathematical software find themselves with two additional requirements. First, they need a mathematical software package embedded in an interactive environment, in which it is easy to make changes and regenerate results. Second, they need a higher-level presentation mode, which integrates computation and graphics with text, uses different formats for input and output, and communicates effortlessly with other software applications. These additional requirements can be accomplished using either cells and the publish command, or else the M-book interface, both of which were briefly described in Chapter 3. The present chapter goes into more detail and discusses some of the fine points of these methods.
Fine Points of Publishing
As we mentioned Chapter 3, the simplest way to produce a finished presentation with MATLAB is to prepare your work in a script M-file and then publish the result.

This is a short, focused introduction to MATLAB, a comprehensive software system for mathematical and technical computing. It contains concise explanations of essential MATLAB commands, as well as easily understood instructions for using MATLAB's programming features, graphical capabilities, simulation models, and rich desktop interface. Written for MATLAB 7, it can also be used with earlier (and later) versions of MATLAB. This book teaches how to graph functions, solve equations, manipulate images, and much more. It contains explicit instructions for using MATLAB's companion software, Simulink, which allows graphical models to be built for dynamical systems. MATLAB's new "publish" feature is discussed, which allows mathematical computations to be combined with text and graphics, to produce polished, integrated, interactive documents. Using MATLAB, you can solve technical computing problems faster than with traditional programming languages, such as C, C++, and Fortran. – The MathWorks, Inc.
That statement encapsulates the view of The MathWorks, Inc., the developer of MATLAB®. MATLAB 7 is an ambitious program. It contains hundreds of commands to do mathematics. You can use it to graph functions, solve equations, perform statistical tests, and much more. It is a high-level programming language that can communicate with its cousins, e.g., Fortran and C. You can produce sound and animate graphics. You can do simulations and modeling (especially if you have access not just to basic MATLAB but also to its accessory Simulink®). You can prepare materials for export to the World Wide Web. In addition, you can use MATLAB to combine mathematical computations with text and graphics in order to produce a polished, integrated, interactive document.
A program this sophisticated contains many features and options. There are literally hundreds of useful commands at your disposal. The MATLAB help documentation contains thousands of entries. The standard references, whether the MathWorks User's Guide for the product, or any of our competitors, contain a myriad of tables describing an endless stream of commands, options, and features that the user might be expected to learn or access.

Summary
In this chapter we describe an effective procedure for working with MATLAB, and for preparing and presenting the results of a MATLAB session. In particular we discuss some features of the MATLAB interface and the use of M-files. We introduce a new command in MATLAB 7, publish, which produces formatted output. We also give some simple hints for debugging your M-files.
The MATLAB Interface
Starting with version 6, MATLAB has an interface called the MATLAB Desktop. Embedded inside it is the Command Window that we described in Chapter 2.
The Desktop
By default, the MATLAB Desktop (Figure 1.1 in Chapter 1) contains four windows inside it, the Command Window on the right, the Current Directory Browser and the Workspace Browser in the upper left, and the Command History Window in the lower left. Notice that there are tabs for alternating between the Current Directory and Workspace Browsers. You can change which windows are currently visible with the Desktop menu (in MATLAB 6, the View menu) at the top of the Desktop, and you can adjust the sizes of the windows by dragging their edges with the mouse. The Command Window is where you type the commands and instructions that cause MATLAB to evaluate, compute, draw, and perform all the other wonderful magic that we describe in this book. We will discuss the other windows in separate sections below.

Summary
With MATLAB you can create your own Graphical User Interface, or GUI, which consists of a Figure window containing menus, buttons, text, graphics, etc., that a user can manipulate interactively with the mouse and keyboard. There are two main steps in creating a GUI: one is designing its layout, and the other is writing callback functions that perform the desired operations when the user selects different features.
GUI Layout and GUIDE
Specifying the location and properties of various objects in a GUI can be done with commands such as uicontrol, uimenu, and uicontextmenu in an M-file. MATLAB also provides an interactive tool (a GUI itself!) called GUIDE (this stands for Graphical User Interface Development Environment) that greatly simplifies the task of building a GUI. We will describe here how to get started writing GUIs with the MATLAB 7 version of GUIDE, which has some significant enhancements over earlier versions. The version of GUIDE in MATLAB 6 is roughly similar, but some of the menu items and options are different or missing.
✓ One possible drawback of GUIDE is that it equips your GUI with commands that are new in MATLAB 7 and it saves the layout of the GUI in a binary.fig file. If your goal is to create a robust GUI that many different users can use with different versions of MATLAB, you may be better off writing the GUI from scratch as an M-file.

Summary
Every time you create an M-file, you are writing a computer program using the MATLAB programming language. You can do quite a lot in MATLAB using no more than the most basic programming techniques that we have already introduced. In particular, we discussed simple loops (using for) and a rudimentary approach to debugging in Chapter 3. In this chapter, we will cover some further programming commands and techniques that are useful for attacking more complicated problems with MATLAB. If you are already familiar with another programming language, much of this material will be quite easy for you to pick up!
✓ Many MATLAB commands are themselves M-files, which you can examine using type or edit, e.g., enter type isprime to see the M-file for the command isprime. You can learn a lot about MATLAB programming techniques by inspecting the built-in M-files.
Branching
For many user-defined functions, you can use a function M-file that executes the same sequence of commands for each input. However, one often wants a function to perform a different sequence of commands in different cases, depending on the input. You can accomplish this with a branching command, and, as in many other programming languages, branching in MATLAB is usually done with the command if, which we will discuss now. Later we will describe the other main branching command, switch.

For a simple illustration of branching with if, consider the following function M-file absval.m, which computes the absolute value of a real number.
